Re: Strange behaviour on PDL / APD with RDM and VM

UPDATE:

I just read here that a modification on the behaviour on PDL was done in 5.1 U1

"vSphere 5.0 Update 1 a new mechanism has been introduced which allows vSphere HA to take action when a datastore has reached a PDL state. Two advanced settings make this possible. The first setting is configured on a host level and is “disk.terminateVMOnPDLDefault”. This setting can be configured in /etc/vmware/settings and should be set to “True”. This setting ensures that a virtual machine is killed when the datastore it resides on is in a PDL state."

The problem i think that this behaviur kicks in in a Whatever PDL Conditionnot only a Datastore PDL

In this case infact the PDL is triggered but is not related to a Datastore, moreover it would be ignored because the "Physical Mode" was

used, wich is specifically used in order to avoid any Esx interference as possible.

So this behavuor need some fixing to take into the consideration this particular case (or others similar)?

I'll make the same test with 5.1 version and i'll report.

Thanks
